The History of Everton Football Club
The first game under the name of Everton came just a month after the club changed it's name from St. Domingo's at a meeting held at the Queen's Head Hotel in November 1879. Playing on the same pitch in Stanley Park used before changing their name the game took place on 20th December 1879 with the opponents being a local church side, St. Peter's
Playing in Blue and White striped shirts Everton won the game 6-0 and lined up using the most up to date formation of 2-2-6. It is believed that Everton's line up for the game was:
W. Jones in goal, T. Evans and J. Douglas as defensive backs, C. Hiles and captain S. Chalk at half backs and R. W. Morris, A. White, F. Brettle, A. Wade, Smith, W. Williams all forwards.
